Violated by the constant misuse of civilization and the foul taint of the Unnatural staining its soil, the Land itself cried out in pain. When the old gods fought and died and the new ones entered the world, enormous energies were released leading to much death and destruction. But, where there is death, there must also be life and a new beginning, and so Nature was at last able to give a voice to its pain and fury in the form of Eshaine. Part of Nature herself, and sharing the land's pain, Eshaine seeks to bring back balance. Opposing the thoughtless destruction of Nature and the creation of bare wastelands and lifeless deserts of mortar and brick, smothering the land, she teaches mortals to live in harmony with Nature, living with the land instead of off the land, and to give back as much as is taken to preserve the true balance of Nature. She sees herself as a nurturing mother to her followers, a part of everything alive. However, those who defile her realm - be it by the taint of their very existence or their careless deeds - will come to realize that she is not only caring and nurturing but also their nightmare taken form.
