THE MOONS OF AABAHRAN

The wold of Aabahran is circled by three moons: Dyphrities, Nercuros and Lysenties. It is the interplay of the gravitational forces of the planet, sun and the moons that weakens the already thin barriers of reality around Aabahran and form the gate into the Nexus once upon each 10th millenium.

Nercuros the Grey:
Lacking any atmosphere or geological activity Nercuros is a barren gray rock scarred by impacts of meteorites and the solar flares of the red giant. It is the most massive of the three moons and mostly responsible for Aabahran's tides, earthquakes and other natural lunar phenomena.

Dyphrities the Black:
Similar to Nercuros in its composition but much smaller, Dyphrities motion causes it to always remain in the solar shadow of Aabahran. Emitting no light it is never visible in the night sky though at times it does eclipse one of the other moons. A night upon which only Dyphrities hangs in the sky (no other moons are present) is known as True Night and occurs only once a year.
Lysenties the White:
Composed of frozen gases and elements Lysenties is a solid chunk of ice big enough to have held on to some gases for its own atmosphere. When caught in the solar light it glows fiercely with white light often strong enough to offset the light red tinge the Aabahran's sun gives its planet's atmosphere. This happens every 10th day (last day of the week) and thus this day is known as Sunday as the glowing Lysenties appears much like a second sun in the sky.
Because of each moon's peculiar properties they quickly became focus of worship by the primitive natives of Aabahran. As the worship grew more common and widespread, it was only matter of time until the reality was bent to the belief. As magical and clerical guilds arose in Aabahran with the advent of civilization, the ancient beliefs were re-affirmed and focused into their present state.

THE LUNAR TRIAD

The three moons form a triad of power around Aabahran. It is this triad that fuels all magical spells and sustains the power of the Immortals. Each religion and its Deity draws strength from one or two of the moons thus defining their alignment and interests in the mortal world.

Each of the moons powers one of the Primes, these are the "pure" arcane forces whose interplay creates the three additional Planes. Planes arise from mixing or combination of two Primes. Together the three Primes and three Planes sustain all magical forces on Aabahran. Every Immortal, spell or prayer draws its power from a Prime or Plane.
